Description
Hisense 20L Microwave Oven — Digital, Compact, Reliable
A microwave oven is the appliance that quietly does the most work in a busy house. Reheating last night’s food, warming a baby’s milk, softening butter, defrosting meat you forgot to take out in the morning — none of it is exciting and all of it happens daily. This 20-litre Hisense handles it without taking over your counter.
Twenty litres is the practical size for most kitchens here. A standard dinner plate turns freely inside it, which sounds obvious until you meet a smaller unit where the plate catches on the wall and stops the turntable. Anything larger starts eating counter space you need for cooking.

Getting The Most From A Microwave Oven
Two rules that people ignore and then blame the appliance for.
No metal. No foil, no metal-rimmed plates, no cutlery left in the bowl. Metal reflects microwaves and produces arcing that will damage the magnetron — the single most expensive component in the unit. This is how most microwaves die young.
Cover your food. Splatter bakes onto the roof of the cavity and then burns every time you use it afterwards. A plate on top, or a proper microwave cover, keeps the interior clean and stops that smell. Wipe it out weekly.
What a microwave will and will not do
It reheats and defrosts brilliantly. It does not brown or crisp anything, because it heats water molecules inside the food rather than the surface. Chips will come out soft, chicken skin will come out pale. For crisping you want an air fryer or an electric oven.
This is not a grill microwave — there is no browning element. If you specifically want that combination, tell us and we will check what is in stock, since the range moves.
Power and placement
A microwave oven draws a real load on startup. Give it its own wall socket rather than a shared extension, and leave ventilation clearance at the back and sides. Do not build it into a tight cabinet without airflow. Full range details on the official Hisense site, or browse our microwave range. Countrywide delivery from Katwe, +256 702 058341.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a microwave oven in Uganda?
This Hisense 20-litre digital model is UGX 254,000, down from UGX 270,000. Twenty litres is the practical size for most Ugandan kitchens — a dinner plate turns freely inside it.
Can a microwave oven brown or crisp food?
No. A microwave oven heats water molecules inside the food rather than the surface, so chips come out soft and chicken skin stays pale. For crisping you want an air fryer or an electric oven.
Why did my last one stop working?
Usually metal. Foil, metal-rimmed plates or cutlery left in the bowl cause arcing that destroys the magnetron, which is the most expensive component in the unit.
