Every appliance we sell comes with the manufacturer warranty that belongs to it, and we handle the claim ourselves rather than sending you to a call centre that will not answer. What follows is what that covers, and what you can do to make sure you never need it.
What the warranty covers
Manufacturing faults. A compressor that fails, a motor that seizes, a control board that dies on its own, a panel that was faulty from the factory. If the machine failed because of how it was built, that is ours to sort out.
What it does not cover
- Damage from power surges or an unstable supply.
- Physical damage, dents, cracked glass or water ingress.
- Anything opened up or repaired by someone other than an approved technician.
- Normal wear on consumable parts such as clipper blades, filters and door seals.
- Use beyond what the appliance was built for, such as a domestic machine running commercially all day.
Making a claim
Call or WhatsApp +256 702058341 with your receipt and a description of what the machine is doing. Bring it to the shop in Katwe if you can. For large items we will arrange collection. We will tell you honestly whether it is a warranty fault or something else, and if it is not covered we will quote you for the repair rather than pretend.
Keep your receipt
It is the single thing that makes a claim straightforward. Photograph it and keep the photo somewhere you will find it in two years.
Looking after your appliances
Protect against voltage swings
This is the most important thing on this page. Uganda’s supply moves around, and voltage swings destroy compressors, televisions and control boards faster than anything else. A voltage protector costs a fraction of a compressor. Fit one to every fridge, freezer, television and air conditioner in the house.
Fridges and freezers
Leave a hand’s width of space behind and above so the coils can breathe. Do not put hot food straight in. Defrost a manual freezer before the ice gets thicker than a finger, because ice is insulation and the motor runs longer to fight it. If you move it, let it stand upright for four hours before switching on.
Washing machines
Clean the lint filter regularly and leave the door open after a wash so the drum dries. Do not overload it. A machine forced to spin an unbalanced load wears its bearings out years early.
Cookers and ovens
Wipe spills before they bake on. Check the gas hose and regulator for cracks every few months and replace them the moment you have any doubt. Do not line the oven floor with foil.
Kettles, irons and coffee makers
Descale them. Ugandan tap water scales up a heating element quickly, and a scaled element runs slow, drinks more power and eventually fails. Half white vinegar and half water, run through, then two clean cycles to flush.
Air conditioners
Wash the filters every month in the dry season. A blocked filter makes the unit work harder for less cooling and costs you on the meter.
