Electrical accessories in Uganda are the cheapest things we sell and the ones where buying badly does the most damage. An extension cable with an aluminium conductor sold as copper will heat up under load. A fake fridge guard will not protect anything.
We stock extension cables with genuine copper conductors and real load ratings, fridge and TV guards that handle voltage drops as well as spikes, power banks, chargers and cables.
Worth knowing: a surge protector and a fridge guard are not the same thing. A surge protector handles spikes. In Uganda, it is low voltage that kills fridge and freezer compressors, and only a proper guard with a voltage cut-out and a restart delay protects against that. If you own a fridge, a freezer or an air conditioner, you want the guard, not just the surge strip.
