Washing Machines

The honest starting question for washing machines in Uganda is not brand or capacity — it is your water supply. Fully automatic machines fill themselves and need mains pressure. When the water goes off mid-cycle, an automatic machine stops with your clothes soaking in it.
A twin tub does not care. You fill it from a bucket or a jerrycan, it washes, you move the load to the spin tub. More hands-on, and it works every day of the year. If your supply is unreliable or you are renting and cannot plumb anything in, buy the twin tub. That is not a downgrade, it is the correct machine.
If you have reliable piped water, a drain point and a level floor, a front loader is genuinely more convenient and uses less water. Add a dryer function if you want laundry finished indoors during the rains, and be aware that drying uses considerably more electricity than washing.
