Air conditioners in Uganda are sized in BTU, and getting the size right matters more than the brand. Roughly: 9,000 BTU for a small bedroom, 12,000 for a standard bedroom or small office, 18,000 for a large sitting room, 24,000 for open-plan space.
Too small and it runs constantly without cooling. Too large and it cools fast then shuts off before it has pulled the humidity out, leaving a cold clammy room. Tell us your room dimensions and we will size it properly.
Split systems must be installed by a qualified technician — the refrigerant lines need vacuuming and charging, and a bad installation is the most common reason these units underperform. Budget for that separately. If air conditioning is more than you need, a pedestal fan does about eighty percent of the job for a fraction of the purchase price and the running cost.
